Aquarium stocking examples: What fish for 29-38 gallon tank?

The 29, 30 and 38 gallon aquarium already offers enough space to make interesting stockings and ornamental fish combinations become reality. Thanks to a tank edge to edge length of at least 30 inches and a height of 15 inches, the fish already have plenty of swimming space. Furthermore, 29-38 gallons fishtanks are very suitable for beginners. In contrast to the somewhat smaller 15-20 gallons fishtanks, they will forgive relatively more mistakes made by beginners, which are quickly caused by incorrect fertilisation or carelessness in the care of the fishtank. What fish can be kept in a 29 gallons - 38 gallons fishtank?

Aquariums between 29 gallons and 38 gallons can already be equipped with many different ornamental fish. Generally the following popular aquarium inhabitants will feel very comfortable in a basin with an edge length of 30-36 inches:

  • Red Neon tetra or Cardinal Tetra and other small tetra species
  • Dwarf Cichlids, such as Angel Ram cichlids (Microgeophagus ramirezi) or Apistogramma Borelli opal (Umbrella cichlids)
  • Rasbora such as Harlequin Rasboras
  • Dwarf Gourami species, like three spot gourami or pearl gourami
